I can blame this entirely on Digg. I was bored at work (as were the rest of my delightful cohorts in America’s Army map making), and lo and behold, I found this lovely little article. It got my curiosity going, of course, as there is nothing more that I love then wasting copiuos amounts of time building places, which is a lot of the reason why I want to be a level designer. I’ve been reading up on game theory books to pass the time when I’m waiting (and I seem to be waiting a lot, actually), and this is just the last piece of the puzzle. I haven’t written for ages and ages, and I know I’m rusty. I can’t say that this will be any good, but I can say that I will be trying it out. Getting my feet wet, so to speak. And I’ve signed up to do it. I’ve given my word, and now I actually have to finish something.

Which will be tricky. Regardless, this means that I’ll actually have to skin this blog, and get thinking about what the hell I want to write about. I’ve signed up at tales of a fantasy scribbler, which has a lot of handy resources that I will probably be using the hell out of to remember stuff.

For me, at least, this challenge is more about map making and a return to writing on a frequent basis. I’m never sure if I’ll even use this world, but getting used to writing them up and populating them will help keep me on track! Also, it gives me a reason to write in this blog other than to bitch about what games I play. So I’m off to sking this bad boy up real quick so it’s presentable, then I’ll start writing! Maybe today, even.
